Hi! I'm Jo. Welcome to my Adventure!
Thanks for checking out AP Learning Center Ohio! The AP Learning Center opened its doors to diverse learners in August 2018 and is an education program supporting the needs of learners 7th grade through adulthood. The center focuses on preparing middle and high school learners for the transition into adulthood through community involvement, community connection, and support in community navigation.
Having spent 12 years teaching in alternative learning programs, my experience has always focused on teens and young adults as they prepare for life beyond school years. Job coaching, career planning, and continuing education are areas of instruction and support I have continually provided throughout my career. Additional areas that the AP Learning Center focuses to support the success of transitioning learners include problem solving, independent living skills, and life planning.
The AP Learning Center was created at the request of learners and their families that were searching for a meaningful alternative to traditional schooling. Learners sought acceptance and patience from their teachers and their families hoped for a program that will foster independent skills and self-determination. With the support of those learners and families, the AP Learning Center was created to support the unique learning styles of alternative learners.
The AP Learning Center currently offers 2 service models. The day program is an alternative education program that meets Monday-Friday from 9 AM-1:30 PM. Academics are accessed through an online curriculum platform and paired with community based experiences and project based learning activities. The after- school program, Adventure Pals, meets Monday-Wednesday from 3:15-5:15 in rotating locations in Eastern Cuyahoga/Western Lake County areas of interest.
